Did you know that on average, a sickle cell patient who receives

blood regularly needs 100 blood donors every year to keep them

alive.

Donors of Black heritage are 10 times more likely to have the right

blood group, which is why they need people of Black heritage to start

giving blood regularly.

Sickle cell is a genetic blood disorder that mainly affects people of

black African and black Caribbean backgrounds. It can be severely

painful and life-threatening, but well-matched blood helps patients to

live life to the full.
