We all have the best intentions in development work.  Sometimes however we think we know what the community needs, only to come back a few years after a project ends to see that for whatever reason, the farmer group has dissolved or the water pump is broken, or malnutrition remains.

Claudio Schuftan has over 35 years' experience in the health and nutrition sector and has determined the "traditional approach" to development is not enough.  In this interview Claudio presents the human rights approach, which addresses systemic issues to create lasting change.  Claudio shares a few ideas on how to try this "human rights approach" with your own organization and strengthen the likelihood your programming will make a broader impact.
