AFSO21 Radio, The Weekend Wrap-up host Kevin Ferrara introduces listeners to NFPA 1700 - Modern Structural Firefighting.
This free course provided by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) is what Kevin considers an extremely beneficial resource tool to put in any firefighter's "toolbox" for use as a reference.
Kevin speaks about how fire dynamics is a primary focus on NFPA 1700 and how important it is for every firefighter from the newest rookie to the most senior member like the fire chief to know the "basics" of fire dynamics and how fire dynamics plays an important factor in the decision-making process while operating on scene of a structure fire.
As the episode continues, Kevin speaks briefly about the large 8-alarm fire in Jackson Heights, Queens, New York, and how fire dynamics likely played a part in the need to increase manpower and resources from a 4th alarm to an 8-alarm.
As the episode wraps up, Kevin gives a "Shout-Out" to Clay County Fire Rescue for showing their support to the men and women in the US Armed Forces by wrapping Engine 25 with graphics highlighting the military.
