The Association of Religious of Uganda (ARU) after 50 years of existence continues to be one of the most visible and influential associations of both male and female religious in Africa. Two of the young and dynamic religious serving in the leadership of ARU, Sr Lydia Apily and Fr John Bosco Kamoga, are my conversation partners in this episode. They share with us the stories of the achievements of ARU, the challenges facing African religious in their prophetic vocation, and the troubling phenomenon of the trafficking of Ugandan young girls to the Arab world some of whom end up as sex slaves. They also share their dreams of a bright future for Uganda and Africa as we recover from the pain of the pandemic as well as their expectations from the ongoing synodal process.
