This is the one about the time when I tried to make a joke, offended a sweet grandmother in her own kitchen, and everyone ended up laughing at me, not with me.

And I survived! What's the worst that can happen while you're learning a language in a new country? I feel like my story is a good example of how embarrassing it can get, and yet I wouldn't change it for the world.

Can you move abroad without speaking the language? Yes! Can you learn it when you get there? Yes! Will you make a lot of mistakes? Oh yeah.... and it will be embarrassing. But it's really the only way you can learn.
