Coach Blu Robinson interviews Pam Rickard. With a running career spanning more than 40 years and serving in the nonprofit sector for more than 20 years she is a positive force for good and always moving forward. As a person in long-term recovery, the foundation of her recovery is what guides her in every way. “The fact that I can run at all now, let alone while building community and helping others through the power of sport and the work of Herren Project, is a priceless gift. Whether it’s a 3-mile training run or a major event, her mantra is, ‘I don’t run to stay sober, but I get to because I am’. Pam is a long-time Virginia resident and grateful wife, mother of three girls, mother-in-law, and grandmother Pam has completed countless races, including more than 100 marathons and ultra-marathons. Her races have included a 7-day adventure across China’s Gobi Desert and a 100k trek through the Alps from Italy to France. In 2008, her journey from addiction to recovery was featured in the book “A Race Like No Other,” written by New York Times writer Liz Robbins. She was also a member of the 2016 6-person Icebreaker Run team, running across the US to bring awareness to mental health issues.   Check out more Herren Project
