We could say that the boom of OnlyFans culture is one of the most notable consequences of lockdown. And I am here to support the motion.

Because lockdown has made us reassess things as they are/were. We are sick of misinformation that’s made up, and made to distract us from what we really care about. We are sick of the narrative of the forces that govern us, that is specifically written to keep us docile. Sick of the abundance of crap on the internet. Starved from the lack of authenticity and genuine human contact. Sick of censorship.

Within this context, OnlyFans emerges rather solemnly, as a totem for the democratisation of the Internet. The fact that it was made popular by amateur softcore actresses is not only not a deterrent to me, but a revelation. It means that a reality that our culture fiercely fights to reject, has been established: Sexuality is transactional, and women, when allowed, are happy to sell it for the right price. They are willing to organise this, with absolutely no pretension or compromise, and they are succeeding. It is quite natural to them, in fact, and there is a huge market for it.

The significance of this is important: It means that the walls of hypocrisy are falling down, and much more truth can be revealed, in many other areas of our life.

Because who has time for bullshit, anymore?

I do not. And I’ll tell you something: I do not care for censorship, it does not protect me. If anything, I want to be protected from violence and from lies and from ignorance, not from nipples. I walk on the perimeters of censorship, which means I have to constantly edit what I do to make it conform to Facebook & Co’s standards, and I just don’t like living my life having to take the edge off it. Where do you draw the line? I don’t want to be faced with this moral dilemma every time my mind conjures something.

It’s difficult because the artist’s work is no longer contained in exhibitions within a time/location and place for art fans to visit. In the era of Online, our work is unveiled on Instagram Stories and spills all over our socials. Which means that our artistic manifesto is invading the minds of people who didn’t ask for it, and may not want to see it. I understand that a lot of people may not want to have my provocation forced upon them when they scroll their feed.

Which is why a subscription model is perfect: It keeps your content under wraps, safe from both accidental exposure and the preying eyes of stalkers. Allowing those who actually want to see it to join the cause.

It is also very much in line with what this episode is making so clear: That time is finite and the good stuff is worth paying for, and the bad stuff is not worth the time it takes to see it. The Internet is so full of crap. It’s not only zero value, but negative value because it takes away your time.

ALL THIS SAID AND DONE…

My OnlyFans is http://www.onlyfans.com/dianauncensored and I love it!!
