Reader, Author, Star Wars Nerd...are only a few of the monikers to describe one of our most fascinating guests, Erin Dionne!

Beloved and recommended by librarians everywhere, Erin offers one of A2YO’s most generous conversations, full of practical advice not only on writing a book but committing and actualizing your particular dream. This captivating mother of two and professor of literature is a gifted and prolific writer - seven books for young readers, a recent picture book (Balletball), and a hot off the press, her first nonfiction book on writing called: Bad Choices Make Good Stories. Treat yourself to this interview and her books, which are found wherever books are sold.

Why not take that 15 minutes to sit down and put your ideas on paper or put fingers to the keyboard and let it fly, see what comes out for you. As long as you are willing to try. You can do it, you know, the words mount up, you know, 15 minutes at a time. And that's all that you really need.

Accept that fear is real but confront it. Face it. Don’t let it stop you. If we give in, we never get to take our thing all the way to fruition, right as far as we can take it.

And it might mean that you need to slow down a little bit to confront that fear. You might not be able to shake it but then you can just welcome your fear to come along for the ride. But you know, it's got to sit in the backseat. I can’t let it win or I’ll never do anything.

Be consistent. Every dream deserves your time and your commitment.

Take those 15 minutes and use them in whatever capacity, whatever undertaking. Whether you're drawing and you want to work on your drawing skills, sketch for 15 minutes. If you want to be a better singer, do warm-ups and scales. Have a business idea, plan your business for 15 minutes a day. You need to invest in yourself in order to make that dream happen.
