About Beverages posted its first podcast way back in 2009, but its origins go back farther than that. We had discussed doing a beverage-based podcast as far back as 2007, based on the fact that we loved talking about beverages of all kinds. The beverage that was the original source for these early discussions is coffee. Back in the mid 90’s we were both working in the gourmet coffee industry, learning about how to evaluate coffee and discovering all of the amazing flavors and aromas that the palate is capable of detecting. We realized that these skills transcended all beverages and also included food. It took a few years, but this eventually led to the birth of About Beverages. We mention this because for this episode, we will go back to the beverage that inspired us all of those years ago, but with a twist. We will be trying Blanton’s Bourbon Barrel Aged Coffee. This combines two of our favorite things. We have already mentioned how we feel about coffee, but we also have an appreciation for the many nuances bourbon has to offer and Blanton’s has long been at the top of the list. Andrew happened to see a post for this one night and and acted quickly to order some. We don’t know too much about the coffee, so any additional information you may have to share will be greatly appreciated. What did we think? What do you think?
