The Philadelphia Eagles kicked off their 2023 training camp on Wednesday, July 26 at the NovaCare Complex in South Philadelphia. The team was coming off a successful season, having reached the Super Bowl for the first time since 2017. One of the biggest storylines of the day was the first impressions of both Jalen Carter and Nolan Smith. Both players turned heads during their first NFL practice. Veteran Brandon Graham got to speak on the manner about the Georgia Bulldogs on the roster. One other storyline to focus on is Christian Elliss, the third-year, undrafted linebacker who is looking to land a roster spot. Eliiss was previously on the Eagles last season and got some action as a part of the special teams unit. Analysts believe that Elliss could be a breakout candidate for this season after having a strong OTAs, but we will see where preseason takes him. Our other major storyline comes from the offense, as it was reported that quarterback Jalen Hurts turned down the offer to appear on the Netflix series “Quarterback.”Hurts is more focused on his game and he is hoping to etch his name into the Eagles record books as the second quarterback in franchise history to throw for over 4,000 yards in a season. The first day of camp was mostly about getting the players back into the swing of things after a long offseason. There were some light drills and conditioning work, but nothing too strenuous. The main focus was on getting everyone on the same page and building chemistry. The defense will be the main focus for training camp as Sean Desai takes over as defensive coordinator.
