We have our 1st Elimination Game!! The Carolina Hurricanes return to PNC Arena in Raleigh, North Carolina for Game 5 of the 1st Round Match Up against the New York Islanders. This series opened the NHL Stanley Cup playoffs last Monday and has been one of the more hard-working series. Both teams are wearing each other down physically and working for every chance in this series. Canes Head Coach Rod Brind'Amour has said earlier in the series that his system is built for the Playoffs and feels his team is prepared to make a run. Meanwhile, the Islanders are having a hard time staying out of the box. The Isles enter Game 5 with a 73.7% on the Penalty Kill against the Canes team whose Power Play has been very inconsistent all season. They will have to be more disciplined and stay out of the box if they wish to avoid entering the offseason sooner than planned. Will we have our 1st team eliminated from the Playoffs tonight? We will also recap how each of the 1st round series has fared thus far. For the most part, the series has lived up to the expectations. There are always a few upsets here and there. The biggest surprise so far is the Toronto Maple Leafs and Tampa Bay Lightning. Toronto is up 3-1 currently in the series after a huge 5-4 win in OT Monday night, after being down 4-1 in the game. The Boston Bruins find themselves up 3-1 in their series against the Florida Panthers. Boston will look to close the series out on Wednesday night. What has been the best series of the NHL Playoffs so far? With the Playoffs underway, we will also be able to give you a little extra as far as Live Reactions. The second game we are reacting to is the Wild and the Stars. These teams enter Game 5 of the series tied at 2-2. Game 1 was the hardest-fought game of the series so far with the WIld upsetting the Stars 3-2 in Double OT. Games 2 and 3 were very one-sided the Stars winning 7-3 and the Wild winning 5-1. Dallas wound up tying the series 2-2 with a 3-2 win. This series has had more goal-scoring than anticipated. Both teams have good offenses, but the defenses and goaltending have really been what helped these teams get to this point. Which team will earn the edge and take the series?
