86'd: A Podcast About the '86 Mets Film that Didn't Get Made

7 episodes - English - Latest episode: over 2 years ago -

It’s a podcast about the “not” making of a film. It’s about interviews being cut short by hookers, it’s about drunk, embittered ballplayers, it’s about regret. But it’s also triumphs, tragedies and a million yuks. It’s celebrities like Charles Grodin, Susie Essman, Ad-Rock from the Beastie Boys, and Marvel’s Chief Creative Officer and resident Met fan, Joe Quesada. It’s great interviews, terrific insights into the game and the psychology of the baseball player. It’s the hilarious bureaucracy of sports. It’s my greatest heartbreak.

At this point I’m off to a flying start, landing interviews with Mookie, Doc, and Darryl. I’m even sitting next to Darryl while he signs autographs! I’m living the dream! But all it took was one fateful day at Flushing for Citi Field to turn into Nightmare City. Picture It: I’m at the Home Run Apple, handing out flyers for my Kickstarter campaign, wearing a schoolgirl outfit straight out of Holy Rosary. Suddenly, I see Jesse Orosco. I start to approach. But before I can reach him, the duel f...

Featuring great insight from writer Ellis Henican, who co-authored "Doc" with Doc. I took this photo of the screensaver on Doc's phone after our interview.
