Don't just take our word for it and see for yourself!

– In our confused, divisive, and hyper-connected world
people are struggling to find real meaning and wonder. But behind the chaos and post-Christian
culture, human hearts are still experiencing a divine ache, desiring more
love, more beauty, and more God.
In his new book, Beholding: Deepening Our Experience in God (on sale
Feb. 7, 2023) award-winning musician and founder of the popular ministry
Commoners Communion, Strahan Coleman shares how his journey of pain,
depression, and anxiety moved his working relationship with God to a deep
friendship. He invites readers into a richer life of prayer by giving up
consumer Christianity for a beautiful life of seeing and being seen by God.
Coleman was living an extraordinary life in his twenties touring as a
musicianary with his wife and living week to week in faith while God
faithfully provided financial provision and bountiful global connections.
Coleman witnessed miraculous stories of healing and deliverance through
his songs. However, several years later God’s blessings seemed to come to a
screeching halt.

“We were taking leaps of faith across continents and following the Spirit’s invitation to love those
who didn’t yet know Him,” said Coleman. “We were giving it everything when my body decided to
shut down and slowly give way to frequent sickness and, in turn, depression and anxiety.
“For several years, I spent most of my time in bed. My head constantly spun, and I lived with an
enduring mental fog. And it wasn’t just the sickness. Overnight the provision ended, the stories
stopped, and the miraculous connections dissipated. Cars, dishwashers, and computers broke. It
was hard to love a God who stood by as my life fell apart. Especially after everything I’d done for
Him.”

Through his enduring bedridden journey of physical pain, loneliness and disappointment with God,
Coleman decided to use this time of stillness to relearn how to pray, and he realized he’d been
praying in reverse his entire life. In Beholding Coleman shares why prayer is a way of being with
God in the everyday through our minds and bodies. Additionally, he provides practical mental and
physical ways to improve our prayer lives from different Christian traditions.
