Tips:

If you want to get the most out of your fast Cable or DSL internet connection, try these commands for Half Life 2 and other Source based games, such as Day of Defeat: Source, entered in the console:

Command [Recommend Value, Default Value]

rate [30000, 10000]

This controls the amount of data your client will use to update the server with your games current snapshot, and is subdivided by the cl_cmdrate value.

cl_cmdrate [60, 30]

This controls the number of updates per second your client will send to the server.

cl_updaterate [100, 20]

This controls the number of updates your client will ask to receive from the server per second.

cl_interp [0-0.5, 0.1]

This controls the interpolation, or approximation and best guessing that the game employs to maintain conuity between the brief pauses when the game has not yet received the next server snapshot update.
