My journey as the 49ers Fangirl began on January 14, 1990. It was on that day that as a young girl, I traveled to San Francisco with my family for the 1989 NFC Championship game between the San Francisco 49ers and the Los Angeles Rams. A native Angeleno, I was rooting for the Rams. Then at some point, in the middle of the second quarter, I turned to my mom and said, “I love Joe Montana.” And that was it. I became a die-hard, gold-blooded Niner Faithful and never looked back.

Tracy Sandler and San Francisco 49ers and 49ers Fan GirlAs a teenage girl, I watched every game, dressed in good luck outfits on game days – even if those days were Monday and I had school, educated my teenage girlfriends about Steve Young and Elvis Grbac, while discussing Tom Rathman, Jerry Rice, and Ricky Watters with my teenage guy friends. I cried when the Niners lost to the Giants in the 1990 NFC Championship game – damn Matt Bahr field goal!

Instead of a Sweet 16, I went to Dallas for the NFC Championship game, which did not turn out nearly as well as the Rams game. I was a little older at that point, so I didn’t cry, at least not on the outside (same for Super Bowl 47 and the 2013 NFC Championship in Seattle. I was there for both – kept the tears inside, at least while in public). I’ve cheered on every quarterback from Montana to Young to Elvis Grbac to Jeff Garcia to Alex Smith to now Colin Kaepernick. From 14-2 to 6-10, I’ve stayed strong.

A sportswriter in college at The University of Michigan – Go Blue! (yes I have conflicting emotions about the whole Jim Harbaugh thing, happy to discuss), I decided to start a blog during the 2014 season. I pace during games; I stand during the 4th quarter; I don’t eat on Sundays. My dogs – one of whom is named Kappy – have jerseys. I am convinced my white Kaepernick jersey can be the difference between a win and a loss, while my red Kaepernick jersey is more fickle. I fly to Santa Clara from Los Angeles for every home game. I have a blog about the red and gold. I am the 49ers Fangirl. Like the team, I’ll make you laugh; I might make you cry; but together, we’ll get through it bleeding gold and staying Niner Faithful forever. GO NINERS!

[Podcast EP #64] A Tale of Two Football Teams: The 49ers Before and After Garoppolo

December 20, 2017 16:18 - 24 minutes - 22.4 MB

Jimmy Garoppolo is 3-0 as a starter for the San Francisco 49ers, and man, does this feel like a different football team than the one that started the season. And that’s mainly because it is. Garoppolo has not only solidified himself as a franchise quarterback, but he has breathed life into an offense, and into a team, that desperately needed it. With all the excitement that Garoppolo brings to Santa Clara, Eric Branch (http://www.twitter.com/Eric_Branch) of the San Francisco Chronicle joins ...

[Podcast EP #63] For the 49ers, It’s a Whole New World

December 07, 2017 04:49 - 27 minutes - 25.5 MB

Hello 49ers fans! The Jimmy Garoppolo era is off to a great start, as the new starting quarterback led the Niners to a 15-14 victory over the Chicago Bears in his first start. Not only did he make his receivers and the offense better, but the defense was on the field for far fewer plays, making that unit stronger and more efficient as well. Garoppolo is a legit QB, and the San Francisco 49ers have found their piece to that puzzle. David Lombardi (http://www.twitter.com/LombardiHimself) from ...

[Podcast EP #62] The 49ers’ Jimmy Garoppolo Era Begins Sunday

November 29, 2017 01:42 - 30 minutes - 27.7 MB

Hello 49ers Faithful. It’s official. Jimmy Garoppolo will start Sunday against the Chicago Bears. Kyle Shanahan informed his quarterbacks earlier today. When C.J. Beathard left Sunday’s game with knee and hip injuries, Garoppolo came in and dazzled. He was in for three plays, but those three plays were a four yard scramble, a nine yard pass to Aldrick Robinson, and a 10-yard TD to Louis Murphy. Like I said, he dazzled. With Beathard getting beat up week after week and not being 100%, it is ...

[Podcast EP #61] Three Fangirls. Two Different Allegiances for 49ers vs. Seahawks.

November 21, 2017 23:44 - 23 minutes - 21.6 MB

The bye week has come and gone, and the 1-9 San Francisco 49ers continue their home stand as the Seattle Seahawks come to Levi’s Stadium November 26 for a division rival showdown. Well, they’re rivals. Showdown may be strong for 1-9 vs. 6-4. On this week’s Talking Touchdowns podcast, Steph (http://www.twitter.com/SoCaliSteph) and I (http://www.twitter.com/49ersfangirl) welcome FSGN’s own Seahawks Fangirl (http://www.twitter.com/SeahawksFGSN), Christina Kaplan, to talk about the matchup. We d...

[Podcast EP #60] Seahawks An Easy Win? Kap a Starter? Two Guests Talk.

November 15, 2017 16:27 - 56 minutes - 51.4 MB

After nine painful losses, the San Francisco 49ers finally got a win and are 1-9 heading into the bye week. Even though they were playing the dismal New York Giants, the 49ers played well, played hard, and gave us a glimpse of what this team’s future could be. On this week’s Talking Touchdowns podcast, Steph and I are joined by 95.7 the Game’s Bonta Hill (http://www.twitter.com/BontaHill) and 49ers blogger Rich Madrid (http://www.twitter.com/rjmadrid) to talk about the win and the 49ers. Bo...

[Podcast EP #59] Talking Jimmy G, 49ers, and the Warriors with Marcus Thompson

November 01, 2017 21:11 - 44 minutes - 40.4 MB

The San Francisco 49ers may be 0-8, but they have been busy. The traded a second round pick to the New England Patriots for quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and sent cornerback Rashard Robinson to the New York Jets. For the first time in a long time, the 49ers quarterback situation seems to be solidified, and fans can breathe easy on that one. On this week’s Talking Touchdowns podcast, Marcus Thompson (http://www.twitter.com/ThompsonScribe) of the Athletic joins Steph (http://www.twitter.com/So...

[Podcast EP #58] Al Guido Talks “Dwight Clark Day,” Changes at Levi’s, & His 49ers Pride

October 20, 2017 17:25 - 14 minutes - 13 MB

Hello Niner fans! Even with the San Francisco 49ers being 0-6, Sunday promises to be an exciting day at Levi’s Stadium. It will be C.J. Beathard’s first start at quarterback, the first home game since September 21, and most importantly, it’s “Dwight Clark Day.” The 49ers will honor the beloved former 49ers’ wide receiver, and it could not be more fitting with the Dallas Cowboys coming to town. You know, “The Catch” and all. 49ers’ team president Al Guido joins the pod to talk: - What the t...

[Podcast EP #57] The Coach. The QB. The Record. Talking 49ers with Tim Kawakami.

October 03, 2017 15:19 - 38 minutes - 35.6 MB

The San Francisco 49ers are now 0-4 after losing in heartbreaking fashion to the Arizona Cardinals. They have lost their last three games by a combined total of eight points, which means they’re close, but they can’t seem to finish games. This team is in a rebuild and that’s the difference between good teams and building teams. Good teams have playmakers that can make the game-winning plays; rebuilding teams are still looking for it. On this week’s Talking Touchdowns podcast, Steph (http://...

[Podcast EP #56] 49ers Fans, Stay Faithful

September 26, 2017 15:20 - 27 minutes - 25.3 MB

It has been an incredible week in the NFL, with players, coaches, and executives around the league coming together in protest about comment made by President Trump. This past Sunday saw teams staying in the locker room for the National Anthem, kneeling, and linking arms. It was a movement started by Colin Kaepernick, and it is spreading around the league. On this week’s Talking Touchdowns podcast, Steph and I discuss a number of issues, including: - The power of the anthem protests - Steph’...

[Podcast EP #55] Even at 0-2, 49ers are Showing Us Who They Want to Be

September 19, 2017 15:18 - 27 minutes - 24.8 MB

Hello Faithful! So the San Francisco 49ers are 0-2 after a 12-9 loss in Seattle. Even with that disappointment, there are positives with the red and gold and reason for fans to be excited about the future. On this week’s Talking Touchdowns podcast, Steph (http://www.twitter.com/SoCaliSteph) and I (http://www.twitter.com/49ersfangirl) are joined by Niners Nation contributor Patrick Holloway (http://www.twitter.com/PatOHolloway) to break down the game against the Seahawks and look ahead to the...

[Podcast EP #54] The 49ers Real Life Rebuild Heads to Seattle

September 12, 2017 16:53 - 24 minutes - 22.4 MB

Hello 49ers fans. Well week one of the NFL season is in the books, and it was not a good one for the San Francisco 49ers. After a lot of offseason excitement and optimism, the Niners opened the season with a 23-3 loss to the Carolina Panthers. A lot went wrong, but a couple of things actually did go right and there is reason to believe that this team will start to gel and improve as the season goes on. On this week’s Talking Touchdowns podcast, Steph (http://www.twitter.com/SoCaliSteph) an...

[Podcast EP #53] Talking Brick by Brick, Levi’s Stadium, & Nostalgia w/ 49ers’ VP of Comm, Bob Lange

August 29, 2017 15:58 - 46 minutes - 42.2 MB

Hello 49ers fans! The 2017 NFL season is upon us and there is a lot of new in Santa Clara. The 49ers have a new general manager, a new coach, a lot of new players, and a new attitude. To start season three of the Talking Touchdowns podcast, Steph (http://www.twitter.com/SoCaliSteph) and I (http://www.twitter.com/49ersfangirl) are joined by 49ers’ Vice-President of Communications Bob Lange to discuss: • The new show chronicling the Niners, "Brick by Brick" • The new additions at Levi’s Stadi...

[Podcast EP #52] New Regime, New Beginnings, New Look 49ers

May 09, 2017 15:27 - 36 minutes - 33.6 MB

Hello 49er fans! The NFL Draft has come and gone, and the San Francisco 49ers are looking like a team with a vision, a future, and a plan. After making six trades to get the players they wanted for this year, still ending the draft with 10 new players (and that doesn't include the 18 undrafted free agents they signed), and picks for the future, the Niners are in a much better place than they’ve been in awhile. General manager John Lynch did a masterful job with the draft, and he and Kyle Shan...

[Podcast EP #51] Matt Miller Talks 49ers Direction for the NFL Draft and Beyond

April 18, 2017 15:46 - 38 minutes - 34.8 MB

It's about that time 49ers fans! After months of discussion, speculation, and mock drafts galore, the 2017 NFL Draft is just over a week away. The San Francisco 49ers have the #2 overall pick, and unlike in recent years, we do not have a lock on of who they will take. It’s also very likely that they trade back for more picks. This Draft will give the fans a clearer picture of the John Lynch/Kyle Shanahan era, and the vision they have for this team. Frankly, it’s all very exciting! On this w...

[Podcast EP #50] It's Getting Draft-y 49ers Fans. Let's Rebuild This Thing.

April 05, 2017 15:26 - 37 minutes - 33.9 MB

After months and months of speculation, the 2017 NFL Draft is only a month away. Let’s be honest, fans of the San Francisco 49ers have been looking forward to April 27 pretty much since week two of the 2016 season. It is no secret that the 49ers are in the midst of a major rebuild, and though this can’t be done in one draft, a dent can certainly be made. The Niners need everything from a quarterback to offensive lineman to linebackers to, well, everything. On this week’s Talking Touchdowns p...

[Podcast EP #49] Let the 49ers’ Rebuild Begin. It’s Free Agency Time.

March 07, 2017 23:39 - 32 minutes - 29.5 MB

It’s may be the offseason, but the San Francisco 49ers’ general manager and head coach tandem of John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan have been busy making moves. They signed defensive back K’Waun Williams and defensive tackle Earl Mitchell, while re-signing wide receiver Jeremy Kerley to a three-year deal. In a move that was both surprising and not, the Niners have released wide receiver Torrey Smith, after two lackluster years in two very lackluster offenses. But still, it makes a lot of sense. The...

[Podcast EP #48] Will the 49ers Strike Gold with John Lynch Hire?

January 31, 2017 16:34 - 20 minutes - 19.1 MB

The San Francisco 49ers have themselves a new general manager, and he comes in the form of Pro Bowler and Hall of Fame candidate John Lynch. Lynch has spent the last several years as an analyst on the NFL on Fox and though he comes to Santa Clara with no personnel experience, it's definitely an interesting hire. Listen to this week's podcast as SoCaliSteph (http://www.twitter.com/SoCaliSteph) and I (http://www.twitter.com/49ersfangirl) discuss if it's all just maybe crazy enough to work... ...

[Podcast EP #47] The 49ers Almost, Sort of, Hopefully, Maybe Have a Coach

January 24, 2017 16:42 - 24 minutes - 22.2 MB

The Atlanta Falcons are going to the Super Bowl, and they’re going in large part to the play calling of offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan. And yes, that's the same Kyle Shanahan it looks like the San Francisco 49ers will be hiring as their next head coach. Jed York and company will have to wait a couple weeks to make it official, but it will be worth in the wait. Yet, as of now, it’s late January and the 49ers are without a coach and a general manager. Top GM candidates Eliot Wolf and Bria...

[Podcast EP #45] Trent’s Out. Chip’s Out. Jed Speaks. Rinse, Lather, Repeat 49ers Fans.

January 03, 2017 16:43 - 20 minutes - 18.5 MB

In what is becoming an annual tradition, San Francisco 49ers’ CEO Jed York addressed the media Monday morning. This year it was to talk about the firings of general manager Trent Baalke and head coach Chip Kelly and discuss the future of the team and the organization. “I want to let the fans know that I apologize for a 2-14 season. I apologize for being back here again and making a change, but I think it’s very important that we reestablish a championship culture. We need to make sure that w...

[Podcast EP #44] A Tale of Two Sad Teams: 49ers, Meet the Browns

December 20, 2016 16:26 - 30 minutes - 28 MB

Another week, another terrible loss for the San Francisco 49ers. Two games remain in this dismal season, and the end can’t come soon enough. It has been a very rough couple of years to be a 49ers’ fan, so Steph (http://www.twitter.com/SoCaliSteph)and I (http://www.twitter.com/49ersfangirl) brought in an expert on rough years to be a fan. On this week’s Talking Touchdowns podcast, we are joined by Ryan Burns - Cleveland Browns fan and the founder, host, and executioner of FootballSickness. We...

[Podcast EP #43] Kap, Chip, Trent. Should They Stay or Should They Go 49er Fans?

November 29, 2016 16:26 - 31 minutes - 28.4 MB

Hello Faithful! Even though they got close the other day, the San Francisco 49ers could not pull out the win and have fallen to 1-10. A couple bright spots in the game were the competitiveness of the team and Colin Kaepernick’s continued improvement. Kaepernick threw for 296 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for 113 yards. Each week, he looks more and more comfortable in Chip Kelly’s offense and he is making the case to keep his job in 2017. Job security got Steph and I thinking. We want...

[Podcast EP #42] With 49ers, Who Knows What Will Happen

November 22, 2016 16:39 - 26 minutes - 24.4 MB

Welp, it looks like the game against the Arizona Cardinals was an anomaly, as the San Francisco 49ers were back to their old ways against the New England Patriots. It’s not that I thought they’d win, but I did think they could build upon the positives from the Cardinals game and compete. But, no. So, the Niners are now 1-9 and have tied a franchise record losing nine in a row. Congratulations? I don’t think so. Once again, San Francisco looked good in the first half and fell apart in the sec...

[Podcast EP #41] Tracy & Steph, Your Friendly 49ers’ Support Group Leaders

November 15, 2016 16:38 - 29 minutes - 27.2 MB

The San Francisco 49ers almost won on Sunday! Even though they didn’t, they showed some fight and that’s something. For the first time in a long time, eight weeks to be exact, it was actually fun to watch the 49ers. It came down to the last second, and I was actually nervous. It’s been ages since that’s happened. Colin Kaepernick looked strong passing for 210 yards and a touchdown and rushing for 55 yards and a touchdown. Most importantly, no turnovers! Meanwhile, the 49ers’ defense recovere...

[Podcast EP #40] With 49ers, Everything is Awful

November 08, 2016 16:49 - 29 minutes - 27.3 MB

Hello 49ers’ fans. I hope you’ve recovered from Sunday’s loss, but you probably haven’t. This San Francisco 49ers team is certainly the worst I’ve ever seen and I wonder if it’s the worst in franchise history. Per usual, the Niners were in the game for awhile and then a Mike Davis fumble on the one yard line derailed the team. Colin Kaepernick had a good day throwing for 398 yards and two touchdowns, and DuJuan Harris looked good with 58 yards rushing and 89 yards receiving and a touchdown o...

[Podcast EP #39] The Quarterbacks, the Coach, and the Chaos that is the 49ers

November 01, 2016 15:32 - 29 minutes - 26.6 MB

Hello 49er fans! I hope everyone had a nice bye week and took some time to get recharged for the next nine weeks. I especially hope that’s true of the players. The 1-6 San Francisco 49ers are a mess from top to bottom, and with nine games left to play, they have nowhere to go but up...in theory. On this week’s Talking Touchdowns podcast, Bay Area News Group and 49ers’ beat writer Cam Inman (http://www.twitter.com/CamInman) joins me (http://www.twitter.com/49ersFangirl) and Steph (http://www....

[Podcast EP #38] Chin Up 49ers' Fans. Only One Game 'Til the Bye Week!

October 18, 2016 15:41 - 47 minutes - 43.8 MB

The 1-5 San Francisco 49ers are in trouble. They are bad. They have no leader. They have no identity. And they don’t play football well, or decent, or mediocre. It’s a most unfortunate scene in Santa Clara, and it’s not getting better any time soon. Sorry Faithful. On this week’s Talking Touchdowns podcast, Jennifer Lee Chan(http://www.twitter.com/jenniferleechan)joins Steph (http://www.twitter.com/SoCaliSteph) and me (http://www.twitter.com/49ersfangirl), as your ladies of Niners Nation tak...

[Podcast EP #37] Will the Real 49ers Please Stand Up

October 04, 2016 15:41 - 32 minutes - 29.4 MB

Hello 49er fans. We are heading into week five of the NFL season, and the San Francisco 49ers continue to struggle. After jumping out to a 14-0 lead over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, the 49ers fell apart in the second half, losing 24-17 and dropping to 1-3. And that wasn’t the worst part. NaVorro Bowman tore his Achilles and is out for the season, which is nothing short of a devastating loss for San Francisco. The show must go on. It’s a short week and the Arizona Cardinals come to Levi’s ...

[Podcast EP #36] Oh 49ers. You’ve Got Work to Do. Like a Lot of It.

September 27, 2016 15:44 - 20 minutes - 18.6 MB

Well 49er fans, week three of the 2016 NFL season has come and gone, and things are looking a lot like 2015. The Niners are 1-2 and were embarrassed on the road against an NFC West rival. They looked entirely unprepared, as the Seattle Seahawks bulldozed right over them on their way to a 37-18 victory, and it was really never that close. The only bright spots for San Francisco were two 4th quarter touchdowns by running back Carlos Hyde and he is pretty much the offense at this point. Fans are...

[Podcast EP #35] 49ers Hoping Week 3 Isn’t 2015 Déjà Vu

September 20, 2016 15:35 - 30 minutes - 28.1 MB

Hello Niner fans! I hope everyone is recovered from Sunday’s 46-27 loss to the Carolina Panthers. It was an eerily similar game to last season’s week two and no one wants a repeat of last season. The San Francisco 49ers are off to Seattle for a week three matchup with their division rival Seahawks. On this week’s Talking Touchdowns podcast, Steph and I are joined by The Sacramento Bee’s Matt Barrows to break down week two and look ahead to week three. We look at: • The breakdowns in the 49e...

September 14, 2016 15:40 - 23 minutes - 21.3 MB

The 49ers got themselves an impressive week 1 win, & Steph (http://www.twitter.com/SoCaliSteph) & I (http://www.twitter.com/49ersfangirl) are pretty excited about it. We break it down & look ahead to week 2 & the Carolina Panthers. On this week’s Talking Touchdowns podcast, SoCaliSteph and I talk about many aspects of the game, including: - What a difference a coach and his staff makes - Carlos Hyde’s amazing ability - The defensive front that is and could continue to be - How the secondary...

[Podcast EP #33] 49ers Rebuilding in 2016 Whether They Like It or Not | 49ers Fangirl

August 30, 2016 15:59 - 29 minutes - 27.3 MB

Hello 49ers fans. As you know, Colin Kaepernick and the San Francisco 49ers have been in the news quite a bit over the last few days regarding Kaepernick’s decision to sit during the National Anthem. He is protesting racial inequality and police brutality in this country. It’s a decision that has sparked both massive support and massive outrage. As you can read here, I am supportive of Kaepernick and his right to take a stand in the manner he sees most fit. Meanwhile, the 2016 NFL season is ...

August 23, 2016 16:00 - 30 minutes - 27.5 MB

With two preseason games under their belt, the San Francisco 49ers are starting to come together as a football team. Steph (http://www.twitter.com/SoCaliSteph)and I were joined by KNBR and the Pac-12 Network’s Kate Scott (http://www.twitter.com/katetscott) to talk play-by-play, position battles, and who we think has a chance to shine this season. After a short hiatus, SoCaliSteph (http://www.twitter.com/SoCaliSteph) and I are back to talk 49ers’ training camp, NaVorro Bowman’s new contract, the return of Anthony Davis, and of course, the battle at quarterback. [Podcast EP #30] Breaking Down 49ers’ Draft & the Definition of a JedBot | 49ers Fangirl

May 04, 2016 16:04 - 51 minutes - 47.4 MB

And just like that, the 2016 NFL Draft is over. For better or worse, the San Francisco 49ers made their picks, leaving the first round with two – DeForest Buckner and Joshua Garnett. I thought it was a pretty good draft, but on this week’s Talking Touchdowns podcast, Tim Kawakami (http://www.twitter.com/timkawakami) gave us a perspective that has made me mull it over more. Kawakami joined me (http://www.twitter.com/49ersfangirl) and Steph (http://www.twitter.com/SoCaliSteph) to talk about a ...

[Podcast EP #29] Warriors, Chip Kelly, and Draft Picks, Oh My! | 49ers Fangirl

April 19, 2016 16:43 - 35 minutes - 32.2 MB

The Bay Area has a lot of teams, and some of them are actually pretty good; in fact, one is record breaking. With the draft just over a week away and the NBA playoffs heating up, there is a lot to talk about in NorCal sports. Bay Area Sports Guy Steve Berman (http://www.twitter.com/BASportsGuy) joins me (http://www.twitter.com/49ersfangirl) and Steph (http://www.twitter.com/SoCaliSteph) this week to cover: • The Warriors • Steph Curry’s Ankle • Chip Kelly and his role in the 49ers draft • A...

[Podcast EP #28] Tackling Arians, Hardy, & the Inconsistencies in the NFL | 49ers Fangirl

April 12, 2016 17:14 - 30 minutes - 28 MB

The NFL offseason has been anything but boring. Between trade rumors, actual trades, free agency, and ridiculous interviews, fans have had plenty to talk about. Also, Colin Kaepernick is still a 49er. Melissa Jacobs (http://www.twitter.com/thefootballgirl), NFL editor for SI.com and founder of thefootballgirl.com, joins Steph (http://www.twitter.com/SoCaliSteph) and I (http://www.twitter.com/49ersfangirl) to talk about Kap, as well as: • Bruce Arians and his “fight” with moms • Greg Hardy’s...

Just when you thought the Colin Kaepernick era was coming to an end in San Francisco, Kap showed up to off-season workouts and as of now, there’s no trade. And the beat goes on. The draft is just a few weeks away and as I mentioned, the 49ers’ offseason workouts began yesterday. Amy Trask (http://www.twitter.com/AmyTrask), former Raiders CEO and current football analyst for CBS Sports and CBS Sports Network, joins Steph (http://www.twitter.com/SoCaliSteph) and I this week to talk about: - K...

[Podcast EP #26] The 49ers, the Draft, the Kap, and the ACL | 49ers Fangirl

March 29, 2016 16:21 - 30 minutes - 27.8 MB

Though the San Francisco 49ers have been quiet in free agency, things in Santa Clara have hardly been quiet. The draft is just about a month away, and with 12 draft picks, Trent Baalke and the Niners have a lot to do. In this week’s Talking Touchdowns podcast, The San Francisco Chronicle’s Eric Branch (http://www.twitter.com/Eric_Branch) joins Steph (http://www.twitter.com/SoCaliSteph) and I to talk the possibility of the 49ers moving up in the draft, Colin Kaepernick, the NFL owners' meetin...

[Podcast EP #25] A 49ers’ Reconciliation You Won’t Believe | 49ers Fangirl

March 22, 2016 15:19 - 48 minutes - 44 MB

The San Francisco 49ers have seen their share of feuds over the past couple years, but one of them has been cleared up! Jim Harbaugh’s coming back? No. Colin Kaepernick and the front office are besties again? Not yet. But SoCaliSteph (http://www.twitter.com/SoCaliSteph) and The Santa Rosa Press Democrat’s Grant Cohn (http://www.twitter.com/grantcohn) have made up on twitter and beyond, which was a good thing for this week’s show. On this episode of Talking Touchdowns, Steph and I talk with C...

[Podcast EP #24] The Rebuilding 49ers Look to the 2016 NFL Draft | 49ers Fangirl

March 15, 2016 15:19 - 27 minutes - 25.2 MB

We are almost a week into NFL Free Agency and the San Francisco 49ers have barely made a peep, leaving many fans confused and angry. That being said, the Niners are a team in a rebuild and that starts with the NFL Draft, whether we like it or not. On this week’s Talking Touchdowns podcast, Steph and I are joined by Bleacher Report’s NFL draft expert Matt Miller to talk about the best picks the 49ers can make to get this team back on track. And don’t worry, we talk Colin Kaepernick too, becau...

Not only is it NFL free agency time, but it’s also MLB Spring Training time! SoCaliSteph is in Arizona taking in the San Francisco Giants and some sun, but she joined me to talk the 49ers and free agency. This week marks the beginning of NFL Free Agency and the calendar start of the 2016 season. With Niner fans still reeling from a 2015 hangover, we have lots of hopes and dreams about who the 49ers will sign. With the free agency starting next week and the draft six weeks away, fans are going to see a lot of new faces on the 2016 Niners. In this week’s Talking Touchdowns podcast, SoCaliSteph (http://www.twitter.com/SoCaliSteph) and I are joined by Niner Noise’s @CenCalFaithful (http://www.twitter.com/Cen...

January 26, 2016 17:05 - 33 minutes - 30.8 MB

The Denver Broncos will take on the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50 at Levi’s Stadium. Super Bowl activities will take place in San Francisco, but fans will have to travel to Santa Clara on game day, which could bring with it a host of problems. On this week’s podcast, SoCaliSteph (http://www.twitter.com/SoCaliSteph) and I were joined by CSNBayArea.com’s Ray Ratto (http://www.twitter.com/RattoCSN) to talk all things Super Bowl, including: • The matchup between the Broncos and the Panther...

[Podcast EP #19] With Coaching Search, 49ers Will Reap What They Sow | 49ers Fangirl

January 12, 2016 06:58 - 26 minutes - 24.4 MB

The San Francisco 49ers fired head coach Jim Tomsula last week, which means the search for the new great coach is underway. Top names have been interviewed, with many believing that Cincinnati Bengals’ offensive coordinator Hue Jackson is the #1 choice of the organization. He’s certainly the #1 choice of a lot of fans. In this week’s Talking Touchdowns podcast, SoCaliSteph (www.twitter.com/SoCaliSteph) and I talk about the search, the candidates, and how we think it will end. It’s sure been ...

[Podcast EP #18] 49ers’ Fans Looking Forward to Seeing Less Talk and More Action (Week 18)

January 05, 2016 19:44 - 42 minutes - 38.8 MB

Hello 49ers fans! It is 2016 and already a new era has begun for the San Francisco 49ers. After a 5-11 season in which he was put in an impossible situation, Jim Tomsula was fired. Jed York addressed the media and fans, taking responsibility for the disaster that was the 49ers’ 2015 season. However, actions speak louder than words, and it remains to be seen if this team gets turned around. On this week’s Talking Touchdowns podcast, SoCaliSteph (http://www.twitter.com/socalisteph) and I are j...

[Podcast EP #17] Here’s to 2016: It Won’t Be Any Better for the 49ers

December 29, 2015 05:55 - 35 minutes - 32.7 MB

49ers fans, I have good news and bad news. The good news is that the 2015 season is mercifully coming to an end, and we can start looking forward to next season! The bad news is I don’t think next season is going to be any better. So many changes need to be made on this team, and I am not confident that the 49ers’ organization is ready or willing to make them. On this week’s Talking Touchdowns’ podcast, SoCaliSteph (http://www.twitter.com/socalisteph) and I are joined by David Fucillo (http...

[Podcast EP #16] Ch-Ch-Changes Ahead for the 49ers - with special guest Matt Maiocco

December 21, 2015 22:27 - 34 minutes - 31.3 MB

You win some. You lose some. In the case of the San Francisco 49ers, they just keep losing, and in ugly fashion. Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals was no exception, with the 49ers losing 24-10, and frankly, it was never really that close. So the beat goes on for the 4-10 Niners, as they play their final two games against the Detroit Lions and St. Louis Rams, on the road and at home, respectively. It’s abundantly clear that changes need to be made with all aspects of this team, sta...

[Podcast EP #15] We Just Can’t Quit You 49ers | 49ers Fangirl

December 18, 2015 18:22 - 36 minutes - 33.5 MB

Another week, another loss by the 49ers. That being said, 49ers Faithful means faithful through the ups and the downs. SoCaliSteph (http://www.twitter.com/socalisteph) and I have loved the red and gold too long to turn back now; so even though we are frustrated and concerned for the team’s future, we still love our Niners, no matter what. In this week’s Talking Touchdowns podcast, we discuss: - What went wrong against the Browns - Scott Ostler’s article about whether or not the Yorks would s...

[Podcast EP #14] Get Over it 49ers fans. Jed York is here to stay. | 49ers Fangirl

December 09, 2015 18:59 - 29 minutes - 27.3 MB

The 49ers got their first road win of the season, and it was exciting! Yes, they’re still 4-8, but they won on the road, in overtime, and showed heart doing it. These are all good things. They showed promise. That being said, the win wasn’t the only big news coming out of Ninerville this week. Team president Paraag Marathe was reassigned, which was a shocking move, as he has been one of the Jed York’s closest confidantes. There has been a lot said about York, and the frustration from the fa...
