Holly Root is one of the most prominent and sought-after literary agents in America. She has a well-established list of clients and sales in middle grade and young adult fiction, women’s fiction (both commercial and upmarket), urban fantasy and romance. Her reputation among others in the publishing world is that she's a delight to work with, exceptionally bright, and very successful in her work.

Before she became an agent, Holly worked in Christian publishing and then at the William Morris Agency and Trident Media Group. She lived in New York for many years before moving to Los Angeles to lead the Waxman Leavell Agency there. Her husband Jonathan is an actor and they have two adorable sons who light up Instagram.

It’s a special honor to have Holly on our podcast. In this episode, Holly talks about the work of an agent and what steps she took to move from pedestrian to proficient.
