Positioning yourself is all about placing your self in a setting that defines you (and what you have to offer) to your clients. It explains why customers should buy from you as well as clarifies why clients should hire you.

The key is to be able to do this by telling your story, integrating your personality, and ensuring that potential leads recognize what you can provide for them.

How do you want to define yourself to your clients? (Arelthia - 00:36) (Kerry - 01:32)Why should clients hire you? (Kerry - 03:08) (Arelthia - 03:27)How can you tell your story to your customers? (Kerry - 05:26) (Arelthia - 06:17)

There are probably a million ways you might be able to define yourself but when it comes to positioning, the idea is to be able to define yourself to your ideal customers and clients.

One way to do this is to ask yourself these questions.

What specializations best describe your core strength? For example, do you consider your self a designer, or is your specialization more in the area of providing content? Do coding and development make your heart jump with excitement? Perhaps you are merely interested in constructing all the pieces together. Whatever the answers are for you, this is your specialization. The particular area which you concentrate on or are an expert in is your specialization.
What are your top skills? Are you a creative person and prefer using your creativity to provide people a visual design? Does the mobile world fill your brain with ideas? Do thoughts of creating online stores or programming keep you up at night (or maybe wake you up at night because you have dreamt the solution)? The things you enjoy doing because they come easily to you, have spent time learning, and you have the ability to do well are your skills.
What makes you unique (and qualified) to do business with the clients you attract? This question is easily answered when you can clearly identify the benefits your clients receive when they work with you. This area is where you and your personality can shine through to your potential customers and clients and attract the customers and clients that will be ideal for YOU! Some ideas for incorporating your personality into your business will be how your clientele benefits or finds value in how you…

communicate
provide customer support – from onboarding through clients leaving
produce quality work

Developing your answers to these questions will help you in building your story. All that remains is telling your story.

So, how and when should you tell your story? Well, think of it this way, the more people you share your story with, the more exposure you and your business are going to have.

You can share your story in person with anyone you meet. You’ll be amazed at how easy it will become to work into just about any conversation without being pushy.

You’ll also want to work your story into your branding and website, social media platforms, email interaction, and even in chat channels.

The more often you share, the easier and easier it becomes to refine and improve your story. Soon it becomes second nature because it really is part of you and your personality. Everyone is a potential lead and your ideal customers and clients will recognize that what you have to offer is exactly what they need.

Start consistently communicating your specializations, skills, and unique benefits in messages and interactions with people.Click To Tweet

As you interact with people in your day to day routine you are being you and it easy to do. You are attracting the people that you like, and want to be around.

Establishing your position for your business should be approached much the same way. When you interact with people you come in contact with, be you. Tell your story and be genuine to yourself. When you communicate your specializations, skills, and unique benefits this way, attracting your ideal clients will naturally occur.
