Not many local bands can say that they’ve been around for twenty years, nor can most local bands say that they almost had record deals. The Cinderleaf can say both with pride. To be honest, since this podcast is all about music, art, film, food, and entertainment discovery, I don’t mind admitting that until recently, I hadn’t actually heard any of The Cinderleaf’s music. I had seen their name everywhere, sporadically throughout the past twenty years, but due to the way their name painted pictures in my mind, I was expecting more AFI meets Slipknot and less like The Cinderleaf. I recently got to see them perform “Is Electric No” in full at Rebar and was treated to some really great and self proclaimed Emo-Core. Afterwards, I got to meet the guys, who also treated fans to their “other” bands, The Cemetery Hips, and Cobra Cobra Come On Over. This week, we take a listen to The Cinderleaf’s 2005 release, Avalanche.
