There are certain films that age like fine wine. Others age....not like fine wine. This week, we explore the latter, as we dive into 1999's Best Picture Winner, American Beauty. We talk about the thematic elements that are present throughout the entirety of the film, how a background in theater helped both director Sam Mendes and writer Alan Ball, and the troubled legacy of the film's lead actor, Kevin Spacey.

Next week: we head back over to England for something much more light-hearted: the second installment in the Austin Powers franchise, Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me!
