God is a God of Order and Beauty

While there may be disputes about how old the earth is or how it was made, there is no doubt that God is an amazing Creator of order, rationality, and beauty and worthy to be followed!

Axe, Douglas. Undeniable: How Biology Confirms Our Intuition That Life Is Designed. HarperCollins, 2017.

We have a natural sense ability to determine what is designed and what is natural or accidental. This “design intuition” is discussed in the book. This is also the source for the statistical and functional information about proteins that was shared.

Gonzalez, Guillermo, and Jay Wesley Richards. Privileged Planet. Regnery Publishing, 2014.

The numerous factors required for an ecosystem that would be adequate to support life are documented in this book. Some of the other positions in the book such as the formation of the moon are more controversial and less well supported. But the book provides solid evidence regarding the complex set of requirements necessary for life to exist. To be clear, no book provides evidence how life may have formed (biogenesis) nor does this one make any such claim. Evidence such as what is provided in this book only applies to how life, already in existence, could survive.

Koukl, Gregory. The Story of Reality: How the World Began, How It Ends, and Everything Important That Happens in Between. Harpercollins Christian Pub, 2017.

Koukle’s book provides what is probably the best integration available that incorporates general perspectives on creation, and how everything fits together (science, philosophy, theology, logic). Greg is a friend of 121, having spoken at the church twice in the last 8-10 years.

Metaxas, Eric. Miracles: What They Are, Why They Happen, and How They Can Change Your Life. Penguin Books, 2014.

The idea that the universe is God’s first and greatest material creation comes from this book, and from his New York Times article cited above.
