NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — There's a new push to try and stop the spread of the delta variant -- mandating vaccines.  This week we've seen local officials calling for state and city workers to either get the jab or submit to weekly testing.  Can they do that?  What about your employer?

While the numbers for hospitalizations and deaths are still relatively low, a spike in new COVID-19 cases, with a majority of them being caused by the delta variant, is causing a new string of reactions from government officials and local businesses.  Some are requiring you to get the vaccine before you can go to work, with the city saying they would even withhold pay.

On this episode, we'll look at whether employees are required to get a vaccination to work. We'll speak with an employment attorney and jobs expert, Jonathan Bell, to find workers' rights. We'll also check in with Sarah Henry from the museum of the city of new york to see how this vaccination push compared to previous vaccine campaigns.
