Previous Episode: Religion, theology and the ultimate nature of reality
Heralded as the exponents of a 'new atheism', critics of religion such as Richard Dawkins are highly visible and vocal today. In this talk, David Fergusson explains the growing interest in the study of atheism and the different forms that this now takes. He suggests that faith communities can benefit from patient engagement with their critics, even while resisting the reductive explanations of the new atheism. Speaker: Professor David Fergusson FBA, Professor of Divinity, University of Edinburgh (From 1 April 2021, he will take up the Regius Chair of Divinity at the University of Cambridge.)
