Day 242 of the Holy Bible One Year CHALLENGE. After Josiah's death, things go downhill as his successors ignore God and get defeated by Egypt and Babylon. Finally, the temple is destroyed, and the people are exiled, fulfilling Jeremiah’s prophecy, until Cyrus of Persia allows them to return and rebuild. In 2 Corinthians, Paul contrasts the glory of the old covenant, which was fading, to the surpassing glory of the new covenant in the Spirit. He says with Christ, the 'veil' is lifted, and we can be transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory.
